Gait Analysis

Designed for individuals who experience pain, instability, or difficulty with walking. Further testing such as strength, flexibility, and joint range of motion may be performed to determine the cause(s) of any noted movement impairments.

Running Analysis

This analysis is intended for recreational and competitive runners who experience pain while running. Running evaluations also are performed for those who want to improve running efficiency or to identify biomechanical tendencies that may result in future injury. Further testing such as strength, flexibility, and joint range of motion may be performed to determine the cause(s) of any noted movement impairments.

Cycling Analysis

The cycling evaluation is designed for recreational and competitive cyclists who experience discomfort during cycling. Motion analysis will help determine if you are positioned properly on the bike to reduce risk of injury, improve comfort, and achieve peak performance.

Return to Sport Evaluation

The Return to Sport Evaluation is a signature service of the Movement Performance Institute and is designed to assess the biomechanical readiness of an individual to return to competitive or recreational sport participation following injury or surgery (ie. ACL reconstruction). You will be taken through a series of tests to assess balance, running symmetry, and muscle strength. In addition, we use high speed cameras and force plates to analyze movements consistent with your sport (i.e. jumping, cutting, lateral movements, etc.). The videos are then analyzed for biomechanical tendencies that may place you at risk for re-injury. Clients receive a “Return to Sport Score” that is used to establish return to sport timelines. Information obtained from the Return to Sport Evaluation is used to develop patient-specific rehabilitation and/or return to sport training programs.

Injury Risk Screening

Using the same procedures as the Return to Sport Evaluation, we assess non-injured athletes to identify potential biomechanical risk factors that may expose one to future injury. The outcomes of the testing are used to develop an individualized training program aimed at mitigating injury risk and to improving athletic performance.

Return to Sport/Injury Prevention Training

MPI specializes in return to sport/injury prevention training. Such training typically is performed following the conclusion of formal rehabilitation before the athlete returns to full sport participation. The goal of the training is to ensure that the athlete is prepared for the demands of athletic competition and to minimize the risk of re-injury. All training is one-on-one and focuses on improving muscle strength, power, speed, agility as well as minimizing biomechanical risk factors related to injury. Feedback training using high speed video, muscle activation sensors, and force plates is used to assist the athlete achieve peak performance.

Physical Therapy/Rehabilitation
