Gait Analysis

Gait analysis is a comprehensive evaluation of how you walk. It identifies movement problems that contribute to pain, inefficient movement, overuse injuries, and fall risk. By detecting abnormal movement patterns early, gait analysis can help prevent chronic problems and guide more effective treatment.

At Movement Performance Institute (MPI), we use advanced motion analysis technology to measure joint movement, stride length, cadence, walking speed (gait velocity), and plantar pressure distribution. Together, these measurements provide objective information about your walking mechanics, movement efficiency, and potential risk for injury or falls.

All gait analyses are performed by Dr. Christopher Powers, a Professor of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern California and an expert in clinical biomechanics. Following your evaluation, you will receive a written report explaining your findings, along with individualized recommendations designed to address the underlying causes of your movement impairments rather than simply treating symptoms.
